Maria and Trudi's Arctic Challenge 2010 for Motor Neurone Disease

Maria Stott (49) and Trudi Evans (43) from Holbury, Southampton will be taking part in an Arctic Challenge in February 2010 with a number of other individuals all raising money and awareness of Motor Neurone Disease.  MND affects people as young as 30, there is currently no cure and as the disease progresses muscles waste away leaving the patient unable to move or swallow, but at no time does the disease affect the brain function.  Both Maria and Trudi have personal experiences of MND having lost close family members Maria's Uncle died in 1993 at just 53 years of age and Trudi's mum in 2005 at 64.

Trudi undertook this challenge in February 2008 and found it really tough although a fantastic experience, working with the dogs was a privilege and we became very close to them. Seeing the northern lights was amazing, there were many unforgettable moments during this once in a lifetime event, however when a friend asks do you fancy doing it again there can only be one answer!!

Fundraising for this challenge will be hard as we have to raise £8,000, although its more fun with two people sharing the work.  we have arranged a number of events already and can be found on the justgiving website.
